A Musical Gift to the World

Many of the songs we hear and sing on Sunday mornings at Unity of London are original compositions by Jim Chapman, our Music Director.

Jim says the lyrics and melodies for many of them simply come to him in a rush, perhaps in the shower, in the car, or, often, while he sits in the sanctuary on a Sunday morning. Then he creates the chord progressions and arrangements and polishes the songs until he is satisfied with the finished product and ready to share them with our congregation.

We believe this music is a gift of Spirit, not only to Unity of London, but to the world.

At the urging of several Unity of London members who would like to see his creations shared with other Unity congregations, Jim has offered to have his original music professionally recorded, so these songs will be preserved and shared, and, hopefully, provide inspiration for people far beyond our community.

It is also his wish that his songs be made available to anyone who wants them, at no charge.

There is a great deal of work involved in recording a song to professional standards, and even though Jim does not want any payment for his efforts, the costs of renting studio recording and production time are significant.

At the direction of our board, Unity of London has decided to sponsor this effort and has established a tax-deductible fund for what we are calling " the Jim Chapman Project", to help make this vision possible.

Jim also shares his love of music through his Wednesday evening concerts at Unity, where he welcomes guest musicians and creates an opportunity for people to come together through music, connection, and joy.

Whether you experience Jim's music on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, or elsewhere in the community, you can be part of helping this gift reach far beyond Unity of London.
